Krista Jefferson’s JustOne: Starting a Faith-Centered Business
Her hands are busy spinning thread, her fingers twisting fiber.
She extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy.
β Proverbs 31: 19-20
God encourages us to use our talents to serve others and be faithful stewards of His grace. Many women are using entrepreneurship as a way to make a difference in the world through their work.
This week on See Hear Love, the ladies talk to Krista Jefferson, who we introduced to you on an earlier show about international adoption. [add link] Krista is also the founder of JustOne, an organization that follows fair trade practices to offer beautiful accessories, jewelry and Christmas ornaments, and supports people around the globe struggling with poverty.
Krista follows a long tradition of Christian women entrepreneurs, like Lydia and the Proverbs 31 woman, who combine their passions, business sense, and faith, to help create a better world.
I’d urge you to head on over to Krista’s website at www.iamjustone.ca to see her gorgeous pieces. She has offered See Hear Love viewers a special discount code until December 31, 2017! Add Promo Code SHL2017 at the checkout.
And if you feel God’s calling to start a faith-centered business of your own, here are a few tips to get started:
Pray. Before you buy the domain name for your website or hire an accountant, pray over your business idea to make sure it’s what God wants you to do.
Surround yourself with good people. Proverbs 13:20 states, βHe who walks with the wise, grows wise.β As Christians, we were not meant to work in isolation. Even if you are a solo entrepreneur, you can join business associations or have a board of advisors to help you with your goals.
Aim for success. Some Christian entrepreneurs shy away from having a profitable business, fearing that making money is not Godly. But, it’s the love of money that is the root of all kinds of evil, not the money itself. The Proverbs 31 woman “senses the worth of her work” and is paid well for what she does. If you make money to provide for your family, give to others in need, and use fair business practices, there is nothing wrong with growing a strong and healthy business.
Roll up your sleeves. The Proverbs 31 woman “is in no hurry to call it quits for the day.” Entrepreneurship only works if you are willing to work hard. Thankfully, if you are doing God’s work, the Holy Spirit should help inspire you!
Be professional and kind. As a Christian entrepreneur, you should always set a good example. The Proverbs 31 woman always had ” something worthwhile to say, and she always says it kindly.” Make a pledge to be fair and kind to everyone you deal with, and you will showcase God’s goodness as you build upon your dreams.
