Hello to all the stunning single women on International Women’s Day! This post is for you.

Do you ever feel like life has passed you by because you’re single at “a certain age”? Or like you are overlooked in some social circles- or worse, church circles- because you don’t have a partner? Or maybe you just feel straight up lonely sometimes and wonder if your situation will ever change?

Here are 4 things you already know, but I’m going to remind you of on this glorious Day of Women.

  1. You are wanted. You, on your own, without anyone by your side are enough to be loved, enough, valued, and contribute your unique self to the world in a way no one else can. You are desired and worthy of your place in people’s lives. The world is better because you’re in it, but more than that- the people you interact with every day or week want you around and are glad you are here. We don’t say it enough, but we want you, we need you, oh baby, oh baby!
  2. You are strong. It is not easy doing life alone sometimes, and yet look at you, you’re doing it! You’re problem solving that task. You’re learning a new skill. And most importantly, you’re learning that you can ask for help and that is not a weakness. We need other people and it takes a strong woman to know when she needs support.
  3. You are a babe. Fearfully and wonderfully made. You are a walking miracle of life and a beautiful woman. Your fingerprint, your laugh, your eyes, your curves- all are unique to the babe that is you and we don’t tell you enough how stunning you are! You are not single because you need to lose a few pounds or do your hair differently. Sure, change those things if you want to change them, but you are gorgeous right this very second just as you are.
  4. You are not alone. You may be single but you are not alone. You are surrounded by a mighty army of sisters and brothers who are cheering you on. You are not the only one to feel the way you do, so don’t be afraid to share it. You are always in the presence of your Creator, the Spirit of God as near as your next breath. Never for one moment, has he forsaken you or abandoned you. You are surrounded by a great Cloud of Witnesses (that is the church of both now and all generations) and you’re invited into this great dance of life.

So stand with your shoulders back today, my sister. Live this moment and see how loved you are. Whatever may come, we celebrate YOU today and are so glad you are here.
