Taking On New Beginnings
Taking On New Beginnings
Here in Canada, our landscape has begun to change and the trees prepare for winter’s arrival. As the cold ebbs in, the leaves will change from green to vibrant red, orange or yellow, setting each tree in a blaze of colour before they fall, blanketing the ground below.
The spectacle often reminds me of Moses in the Bible and his encounter with the burning bush. Except the bush he saw was actually on fire as the angel of the Lord stood in the middle. A life changing moment for anyone I would think!
To add to the overwhelming moment, God laid out His full plan to rescue His people from Egypt, giving Moses the task of leading them. But like most of us, Moses doubted his abilities to take on the role, citing his lack of ability to speak…let alone address the reigning Pharaoh. And well, you can’t really blame him.
What God was asking him to do, would be similar to the Queen of England asking you to lead England’s population to a new country. The intricacies and logistics of such a move immediately come to my mind. I think I would probably say no too!
With God it is different though. God always has everything already planned and prepared…and in this case, He was even prepared for Moses’ objections.
‘Then the Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.” … “All right,” he said. “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he speaks well. And look! He is on his way to meet you now. He will be delighted to see you.” – Exodus 4:10-14
Although the Lord challenged Moses, He also knew his weaknesses and how Moses would answer, and God had already put a plan in motion. Long before, God had summoned Aaron to meet them at the burning bush and he arrived just after Moses objected.
Like Moses you don’t have to be perfect for God to use you, and you can trust that He has already woven together a perfect plan so that you also can lead in confidence. Your role is to be ready and willing when He asks you.
As we begin a new season of See Hear Love, allow the episodes to challenge you and inspire you to step into the plans God has made for you. Although they may seem challenging, you can be confident that God has prepared the way before you too. Just be ready to say ‘yes’.
