Angie Peters

Angie Peters is an award-winning leader in Toronto’s social sector serving the communities she calls home. After 16 years as a senior executive in telecommunications, Angie moved into the social profit sector to support initiatives investing in people and working towards the end of poverty. Prior to joining Yonge Street Mission in 2013, Angie founded and led ZOE Alliance Inc., a for-profit social enterprise that equipped and empowered village-based businesses in developing nations for sustainable growth.
Angie has served as President and CEO of YSM for 10 years and has since set the organization on a path toward realizing the end of generational poverty in Toronto in one generation. She leads a team of 140 staff and more than 3,500 volunteers in working alongside multiple strategic partners who share her goal and vision for the city of Toronto. As part of her passion for collaborative solutions to systemic issues, she hosted a Poverty Hack-a-Thon in 2022 that has since birthed a city-wide multi-sector collaboration that is creating trust, action, and momentum toward communities where everyone can thrive.
In 2024, Angie will become a published author with the launch of her new book, "Just Act: We are the Solution to Poverty", an inspirational guide for people, businesses, and community organizations concerned about poverty to develop a measurable one-year action plan to help address poverty with effective initiatives while addressing barriers to success.

Councillor Chantal Huinink
Chantal was born with a physical disability in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She and her mom moved to Ontario when she was an infant, so they could be closer to extended family. She is grateful to her grandparents who immigrated from Holland following World War II. They instilled in her a hard work ethic, the value of determination, and a sense of faith.
Raised in Guelph, Chantal’s mom taught her to be a self-advocate and make a positive difference for everyone in her community. She encouraged her to pursue post- secondary education and instilled in her the importance of giving back. Chantal earned her BA in Psychology at the University of Guelph while serving on the board of the Legal Clinic of Guelph and Wellington County and volunteering as a student mentor.
Chantal moved to Waterloo Region more than 10 years ago for graduate studies at Wilfrid Laurier University where she earned a Masters of Divinity and a Masters of Social Work. Over the course of her studies, she worked with the Accessible Learning Center, Christian Horizons, and KidsAbility.
Chantal is a member of Waterloo Christian Reformed Church where she has enjoyed serving as a chaplain, Pastoral Elder, and Girls Club leader. Her education and experience have equipped her to serve and support our great, multi-faith, multicultural, diverse Region.
Chantal’s mom passed away in January 2022. She is thankful to remain close to aunts, uncles, and cousins. She lives independently with Mocha, her most loyal, protective, and affectionate dog.
Chantal is a motivational speaker, author, and social justice advocate.
As a Regional Councillor, Chantal is looking forward to working with staff and council colleagues on issues that include affordable housing, sustainable and accessible public transit, and the provision of upstream resources that promote safety for all.

Cheryl Nembhard
Cheryl Nembhard, Speaker, Author, Justice Advocate - @cherylnembhard
Cheryl Nembhard is an international speaker, author, podcaster, TV host, and social justice advocate. She uses her talents in film and theatre to address critical societal issues and is dedicated to community service, supporting at-risk youth, sexual assault survivors, and teenage mothers. As the founder of EMG Education, her educational theatre company has reached over 85,000+ students across 190 Ontario schools. Recognized by CBC as one of the top 150 Women making Canada better, she received the 2017 Harry Jerome Award for Social Advocacy. Cheryl co-hosts See, Hear, Love on YES TV and hosts On The Path and Soulfood to Go podcasts. She serves on the board of Brave Canada, advocates for marginalized women globally, and is the author of Brave: This Is Us. Currently, Cheryl is the Director of the Women Speakers Collective, empowering women’s voices worldwide.
Eulett Wisdom-St.louis

Eulett Wisdom is a dedicated and compassionate Program Manager with over 15 years of experience within the developmental sector in the field of social work. She has a profound commitment to fostering change in the lives of children, youth, adults, and communities. Eulett is also one of the directors of the Bon Ami Community Services which offers early intervention support and services to families. Her passion for social justice and advocacy is evident in her tireless efforts to empower marginalized populations and promote inclusivity. In addition, Eulett has helped numerous children and youths who experienced abuse physically and emotionally, through neglect or abandonment collaboratively with CAS. Eulett is an active member of her local church where she is a member of the praise team and choir. She also participates in the Ladies' Ministry. Eulett is the mother of two boys. She enjoys family time and watching her sons play soccer. She loves the company of friends and cooking a variety of traditional dishes.

Jasmine Duckworth
Jasmine Duckworth has been serving with Karis Disability Services (formerly Christian Horizons) since 2004 and has been disabled herself since 2015. As part of her role as Community Development Manager she often speaks with churches and community groups about disability, accessibility, ableism, and belonging. She works closely with self-advocates as they work to improve Karis Disability Services, the developmental services sector, and the broader community. She is a mum, wife, and obsessive knitter. Jenny Andison
Bishop Jenny Andison
A former Area Bishop for the Diocese of Toronto, Bishop Jenny is the Rector (Senior Pastor) of St. Paul’s Bloor Street and St. George’s Grange Park, leading a growing family of churches to share the good news of Jesus with Toronto. Bishop Jenny was born in England and has lived in Pakistan, India, Singapore, and Japan. She earned an Hons. BA from Queen’s University in 1994 and received her Master of Divinity from the University of Toronto (Wycliffe College) in 1997. In 2017, Wycliffe College honored the bishop with a Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa) and she also holds an Honorary Doctorate from Tyndale University. When not busy at the church, she enjoys reading biographies, meals with friends and family, and playing with her two miniature dachshunds – Xerxes and Woflie. She lives in Toronto with her lawyer husband Tim, with their eldest daughter living in New York and their two youngest daughters now at university.

Joanna la Fleur is a speaker, podcaster, and digital communications expert. With a Business Communications degree and a master’s in theological studies, she has been helping the Church communicate the best news in the world for over 20 years.
As Executive Director of Word Made Digital, she and her team work with churches and nonprofits on digital communication strategies. You can catch her best insights as she interviews well-known Christian creatives and communicators on the Word Made Digital Podcast.
Additionally, Joanna is the Marketing and Communications Director at Alpha Canada where every year over 100,000 Canadians ask questions about life, faith and meaning through compelling films and discussion over dinners together. She acts as an advisor to the Institute of Evangelism at Wycliffe College and is appointed to the Board of Governors at Tyndale University.
Joanna is a proud aunt to 12 nieces and nephews, has travelled to 39 countries in search of coffee, and calls downtown Toronto home.

Judith brings 26 years of faith-based Non-Profit experience and is a veteran with over 40 years of ministry leadership. She has experience with local established churches, working alongside community partners, built a global internship initiative, has planted a church called SoulHouse and brings experienced leadership through organization + program development as well as team building and coaching.
Judith’s leadership, vision, and strategy has always been about investing in a collective group of people that want to change lives and communities. She experiences great joy in seeing others connect with Jesus through serving others.
She is Co-Author of ‘What does Justice look like and Why does God care about it?’ (Herald Press, 2020) and is a regular Leader Magazine columnist for MennoMedia since 2021.
Judith is passionate about caring for Leaders by developing Healthy Leaders and Healthy Faith Organizations. Her greatest love is to lead others to Jesus. If she has led anyone closer to Jesus in her leadership and life she feels she has fulfilled her call.
Judith is married to her college sweetheart Colin and has been married since 1989. They have two adult children, Colin Jr. and Victoria Love. Her favourite times are hanging out with her husband and children, her OHANA. She loves to garden, decorate, host gatherings at her home and traveling. “Tomorrow is never promised,” she says, “so live each day as if it is your last; remembering to be grateful for all that comes to you each day! I want to lead well where God plants me.”

Lorie is an acclaimed International Speaker, Author, and Bible Teacher who was a beacon of warmth and inspiration in her role as Co-host of The 700 Club Canada's daily TV show. Her profound connection with the audience has indelibly impacted countless lives. With a passion for making Jesus known and empowering individuals to fulfill their God-given potential, Lorie’s journey reflects a commitment to spiritual growth and leadership.
Having dedicated 21 years to education, Lorie brings a wealth of experience as a teacher. She further honed her leadership skills as the Director of Advancement for EQUIP Leadership Canada, an organization founded by the esteemed Dr. John C. Maxwell, where she contributed to training leaders globally.
Lorie holds a master’s degree in theological studies from Tyndale Seminary. Her dedication to fostering a sense of community was evident in her role as the pastor of Adult Ministries at Sanctus Church, where she oversaw the Small Group Ministry, fostering connections and spiritual growth within the congregation.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Lorie finds joy in cottage life, meaningful conversations, and the richness of community.
In all her endeavors, Lorie remains steadfast in her mission to reveal the transformative power of faith in Jesus, inspire personal growth, and encourage individuals to embrace the fullness of their God-given potential.

Nicole is an Author, Christian Women's Speaker, and Registered Social Worker in private practice. She loves Jesus and is devoted to helping women rediscover their identity in Him, always with a tonne of hope and a big dash of humour. Whether through her professional practice or personal ministry, she is committed to helping women navigate the unthinkable, challenge hand-me-down messages, and remember who they are in Jesus.
Nicole's book, You Are Wanted—Reclaiming the Truth of Who You Are, was born from her own experience with marital betrayal, abandonment, and rejection and is a beacon of hope for women navigating similar pain. Newly married to Brent, Nicole continues to be in awe of how God brings beauty from ashes. She and Brent enjoy travel, backcountry motorcycle adventures, and life in rural Ontario.

The Rev. Dr. Sarah Han is an ordained minister/church planter, wife to a church-planter catalyst/ordained minister, mom to three beautiful kids, Assistant Professor of Pastoral Ministry at Tyndale Seminary and Director of the Tyndale Centre for Pastoral Imagination. She has provided leadership in the Canadian immigrant church context for over a decade and has diverse experience in the Canadian public and private sectors. Sarah is a Korean-Chinese-Canadian third-culture pastor's kid turned missionary's kid and much of her formative theology was shaped on the mission field abroad. She is a foodie and loves to feed- in her humble opinion, food is the best love language, and she learned this language well from her Korean mother. Sarah loves to hike and be in nature and she and her family live in rural Ontario amongst trees and chickens.

Senait’s passion to empower women was birthed from her lived experience and is sustained by her desire to break toxic generational cycles and guide women to rewrite their narrative, impacting themselves, their families, communities and future generations. Senait lives east of Toronto with her husband of 10+ years and their 3 children. Senait enjoys spending time with her family, spicy conversations, reading and shopping.
Wendy Butler
Wendy Butler, CEO, Bon Ami Community Services - @bonamics
Wendy, whose name means “friend,” is a bubbly and energetic business-woman currently working as a director at a shelter in Brampton for mothers and children who have fled gender-based violence and CEO of Bon Ami Community Services.
She is a proficient speaker, teacher, and event planner. These experiences have been beneficial to her work and ministry life. She manages her career, ministry, business, and family life with wisdom and dedication, based on sound Biblical principles.
In 2013, Wendy launched her not-for-profit business, Bon Ami Community Services formerly known as Bon Ami Events. Bon Ami Events was a fully fledged organization reaching out to families in the community. The business’ main focus initially was to equip, empower, educate, and embrace girls and women who struggled in various areas of their lives.
However, in 2014, Wendy felt divinely guided to extend community services to children, men, and the family holistically.
In 2023, Bon Ami Events rebranded and became Bon Ami Community Services (BACS). The vision is to have more supports and programs available to children, youth, women, men, seniors, and families who struggle or want to feel more empowered within themselves.
She is not only a mentor for the community but also a devoted wife and mother. Wendy currently serves as the director of the Christian Education Ministry and member of the praise and worship team at her local church.
Wendy has a love for people and has answered the call to struggling children, youth, women, men, seniors, and families from all walks of life. It is Wendy’s prayer that individuals who come through the doors of Bon Ami Community Services' safe haven, will find healing, restoration, and above all find renewed purpose in the path that has been divinely laid out for them.
