Livia (Lihua) Huang
Livia (Lihua) Huang was born and raised in Southern China, and came to Canada first to pursue
her Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning at Dalhouise University in Halifax, Nova
Scotia. She is passionate about supporting capacity building for communities, especially
Indigenous communities, food security, and education. Upon graduation, she worked as a
planner in Inuvik, Northwest Territories with the federal government where she got first hand
experience in working with Indigenous communities. Then, she took up an opportunity in
Vancouver, British Columbia to work with First Nations in the West Coast on cultural and
natural resources management, including species at risk. Currently, she is working with the
federal government in Iqaluit, Nunavut on projects that of interest to Nunavummiut. She also
serves on the Board of Director for the Qajuqturvik Food Centre in Iqaluit, Nunavut.
